Emerging from the sands of New Cairo and the New Capital City, ZED EAST spans an impressive 360 feddans of prime land, with over 150 feddans dedicated to lush greenery. This vibrant development seamlessly integrates a variety of uses, including retail spaces, offices, and medical facilities, forming the heart of a thriving, residential-led community.
Schaduf, as the main landscape consultant, has been appointed to provide landscape architecture services for both the single family and multiple family residential parcels, along with the commercial zone from concept design to construction drawings.
The design of ZED EAST is both open and green, yet compact and connected, encouraging a lifestyle that favors cyclists and pedestrians over drivers. A comprehensive network of paths and routes weaves through beautifully landscaped streets and parks, creating an inviting environment for walking and cycling.
One of the main challenges in the multiple-family parcels, was the need to implement softscape over the underground parking structure, using lightweight planting solutions without loosing the lush green visual impact.
Schaduf proudly undertook the overall landscape design for this project, from thematic design to the preparation of tender documents. Our design emphasizes sustainability, incorporating extensive green spaces and promoting eco-friendly transportation options, ensuring that ZED EAST is not only a beautiful place to live but also a model of sustainable urban development.
Key elements of the thematic design included the creation of interconnected green corridors that link various parts of the community, promoting biodiversity and providing residents with easy access to nature. The use of native plants and sustainable landscaping practices was prioritized to enhance the ecological value of the area and reduce maintenance requirements.
Additionally, the design incorporated a variety of recreational spaces, such as parks, gardens, and walking trails, to encourage outdoor activities and foster a sense of community. Water features and shaded areas were strategically placed to create serene and comfortable environments for relaxation and social interaction.
Overall, Schaduf’s thematic design for ZED EAST aimed to create a vibrant, sustainable, and livable community that seamlessly integrates the natural and built environments.
