Project Overview

Makadi Heights rises 70 meters above sea level on the Red Sea coast, offering panoramic views and a resort lifestyle for families and leisure seekers. The 33,000 m² Clubhouse anchors the community, featuring a swimming pool, pool bar, gym, restaurant, sports courts, and an extensive children’s play area. Adjacent, the Beach Club supports a variety of water-based activities and provides comfortable sun-soaked seating. Schaduf led the Phase 01 landscape design and on-site supervision, translating Orascom’s vision into a cohesive, family-friendly environment.

Challenges
  • Steep Coastal Terrain: Integrating the Clubhouse and Beach Club into a site elevated 70 m above sea level without creating intrusive retaining walls.
  • Amenity Integration: Crafting seamless transitions between active sports zones, family areas, and relaxation spaces within a single resort landscape.
  • Climate-Responsive Design: Ensuring comfort and usability in a hot, arid environment with limited natural shading.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintaining design intent through to construction in a fast-paced Phase 01 rollout.
Solutions
  • Terraced Landscape Framework: We developed gently sloping terraces that step down from the Clubhouse to the shoreline, preserving natural grades and framing views of the Red Sea.
  • Unified Activity Network: Pedestrian pathways and interlinked green spaces guide residents between the pool, sports courts, playground, and beach club, creating intuitive wayfinding and visual continuity.
  • Passive Climate Strategies: Canopy structures, shade-trellis planting, and strategically oriented seating areas deliver relief from sun exposure without heavy mechanical cooling.
  • On-Site Supervision: Our team conducted regular field reviews during construction, ensuring plant palettes, paving patterns, and hardscape details aligned precisely with the approved plans.

Outcomes
  • Spectacular Vistas Preserved: The terraced design showcases sweeping Red Sea panoramas, enhancing every amenity with a sense of place.
  • Cohesive Family Experience: Residents enjoy effortless access to all facilities, from vigorous sports to tranquil beachside lounging, within a single, walkable landscape.
  • Enhanced Comfort & Usability: Shaded nodes and breeze-capturing planting deliver cooler microclimates, extending outdoor enjoyment into the hottest hours.
  • Faithful Design Realization: Phase 01 opened on schedule, with the built environment reflecting Schaduf’s design intent in every detail.

Conclusion

For Makadi Heights Phase 01, Schaduf combined landscape architecture and urban design expertise with rigorous site supervision to create a resort environment that balances dramatic elevation, diverse amenities, and climatic resilience. The result is a harmonious, family-oriented landscape that captures the natural beauty of Hurghada’s coastline while providing a blueprint for subsequent phases of this landmark development.
